This plant is native to Malaysia and is now being cultivated in a number of S.E Asian countries. It has a long history in traditional Asian medicine as a stimulant, tonic, antiseptic and febrifuge and can be used against insect and snake bites. The oil itself is brown in colour and very viscous. It has a musty odour which has been known to stick to clothing for weeks, even after washing! It is used by perfume companies to extend the life of their perfume.
