White Tea

White Tea is made from the immature tea leaves that are picked just prior to the tea buds blooming. It undergoes a lot less processing than other teas, so could be said to be more natural. It is simply dried and steamed, then shredded. It is a strong anti-oxidant and has amazing anti-ageing properties. It is said to protect the skin from UV light. It contains tannins, fluoride and floronoids such as catechins and polyphenols. It became revered by the Chinese Song Dynasty (960-1279) as it was the beverage of choice of the royal court. Powdered tea was the norm, but was replaced by loose leaf tea over the next few centuries. White tea was largely unknown outside the Orient until recently when people discovered it’s health benefits. The highest known grade is Silver Needle.

Why Tabitha includes it
